The shark feeding is a project that began approximately 18 years ago and little by little has evolved in both development and safety. The main objective is to show and promote safe diving with sharks and to clarify that they are not killer machines as Hollywood wanted us to believe. Nonetheless, it is an activity with risks, protocols, and norms that must be followed exclusively by experienced divers, who feel comfortable with sharks or who preferably have an Advanced certification or higher.

Divers will see active sharks very close to them. Quick, comfortable, and safe descents are needed, and following each of the briefing guidelines... (not wasting time on the surface with weights, equipment, cameras, selfies, etc. Weather conditions and currents can separate the group, making it difficult to reach the activity point or, in the worst-case scenario, forcing the cancellation of the dive. For this reason, every second on the surface is of vital importance and it is fundamental to remain in a group and coordinated at all times).

Quick descents, positioning on the line, good buoyancy management, and optimal air consumption are requirements for this activity.

It is a dive in Playa del Carmen, very close to the coast. The boat trip takes only 10 minutes. Then you enter the water, descend, take position shoulder to shoulder without leaving spaces between you. Kneeling and secured to a rope, the feeder will be in front of them feeding the sharks at approximately 23 meters, for about 23 minutes of bottom time.

A dive guide (Dive Master) or their own instructor is responsible for the group... and a safety diver (Safety Diver) is exclusively in charge of the support and assistance of the feeder. They can use cameras and take photos as long as they are kneeling in their position. They cannot move from their spot during the activity, THEY MUST NOT EXTEND THEIR HANDS OR TRY TO GET CLOSER TO THE SHARK, AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THEY TOUCH THE SHARK.
